How We Edit Your Wedding Film
Finding the Story in Your Day
We come home from a wedding with hours of film. The first job is watching all of it. We’re looking for the moments that hold how the day felt, like a look down the aisle or a hand squeezed during the readings.
Then we build the story. A good wedding film has a shape. It opens quietly and builds towards the ceremony, then lets the evening get a bit loud. We let your vows and speeches carry it in your own words, so the film sounds like you as well as looking like you.
Pacing and Timing
Pacing is where the feeling comes from. We stay on the slow moments, like the first look or the walk down the aisle, so you have time to take them in. On the dance floor the cuts get quicker and the film picks up with the music.
The small timings count too. Cutting on a laugh, or holding one more second on a teary face, is often what brings a lump to your throat on the tenth watch.

Music sets the mood of the whole film, so we take our time choosing it. A quiet ceremony in a country church needs something different from a barn party that ran until midnight. We usually choose instrumental tracks, so your own voices and the sounds of the day can really stand out. If there’s a song that means something to you, tell us. We want the music to reflect you and your day.
The Sounds of the Day
The music is only part of it. What makes a wedding film feel real is the sound of the day itself. Special moments like a voice catching in the vows, the whole room laughing at the best man, the bells as you walk out. We record the ceremony and speeches separately from the cameras so every word is clear.
In the edit we blend those sounds with the music. Sometimes we bring the music right down and let a moment play out exactly as it happened. Those are often our favourite parts of the film.

Why Real Moments Matter
We won’t ask you to redo the first kiss or walk down the aisle twice. The moments that mean most are usually the ones nobody planned, your nephew asleep under a table, or your dad straightening his tie for the fourth time. We film in a documentary way so the edit has all of the real moments.
Filming Different Venues
Every venue changes how we film. At Middleton Lodge we might send the drone up for the sweep of the grounds, while a candlelit evening at Hazel Gap Barn is all about close, quiet shots in the warm light. We work with the natural light and the surroundings rather than bringing in our own. Before your wedding we always research your venue and do our best to visit it. How We Work on the Day
A Calm, Quiet Presence
We have one rule. Focus on the couple, not the camera. On the day it will just be the two of us and the kit will always be discreet, with no big lights and no directing guests into set pieces. Most of the time we’re at the edge of the room, just watching the day happen.
Relaxed Couples Make Better Films
When you’re relaxed, it shows on screen. We chat with you before the wedding to get a feel for how you two are together and plan around what matters to you. On the day, Julia is your main point of contact and films alongside Cal. You can meet Julia & Cal before you book.
A Real Wedding: Becky & Tom
We want your film to be all about you. We film in a very hands off, documentary way and rarely ask anyone to pose, but when a couple has an idea they love, we’re all for it.
Becky & Tom asked us to keep their film as natural as possible, other than one moment between Tom and his groomsmen. They’d brought cigars and had a vision of all of the men lighting up with a glass of whisky. The groomsmen threw themselves into it, and it turned into a real Peaky Blinders moment. Then the girls wanted to join in, and it grew into something so special it became its own feature in their film.
Sharing Your Wedding Film
When your film arrives you’ll want to show everyone. We have two tips for you
- Watch it together first, with the sound up, before you post anything. You won’t regret having that moment to yourselves.
- Send the full film to the people who couldn’t be there. Grandparents and friends abroad often love it most.
We can also make short trailers sized for Instagram, TikTok or Facebook, so you’ve something ready to post.

Every couple is different, so you can choose a short highlight film or a longer full-length film. Reels and shorter trailers usually take 2–3 weeks while our longer films can vary from 12–20 weeks depending on where we are in the season.
